To keep its high-quality third-party logistics (3PL) services running smoothly 24×7 for Fortune 500 customers, Kenco needed dependable and secure network access at warehouses to connect essential systems and equipment. At new locations, however, waiting months for a new fiber service wasn’t possible given rigid contractual terms. They needed network access on day 1, and it needed it to stay up and running without interruption.

Solution

Kenco chose highly reliable and flexible cellular broadband to connect facilities, delivered through Cradlepoint’s NetCloud Service for Branch and wireless 4G LTE routers and adapters. This solution supports cellular and wired broadband and includes robust Wi-Fi, fast setup through zero-touch deployment, in-band and Out-of-Band Management (OOBM) services, and extensive cloud-based network and security management features and integrations.

Kenco warehouses attain day-1 connectivity for sites and network access for critical systems — including applications and connected devices such as scanners, printers, and sensors. What previously required an expensive trip for a Kenco IT specialist can now be resolved quickly and from anywhere.

When the primary connection at a Kenco warehouse drops because of a cut wire or equipment failure, the network now automatically switches to a cellular link — keeping critical systems and warehouse equipment online.

Failover

To resolve networking challenges across Kenco-owned properties, and while providing contracted services in customer-owned facilities, Kenco decided to take advantage of the speed and flexibilty of Gigabit-Class LTE connectivity.

To enable seamless network failover at warehouses, distribution centers, and transportation hubs, Kenco uses Cradlepoint’s LTE-enabled wireless edge adapters.

At RTech, we offer our Failover “As-a-Service,” which means the cost is added on as an OpEX cost that reccurs monthly. This prevents customers from having to pay expensive fees upfront and enables smaller businesses to take advantage of the same solutions outlined here.

With this new solution, Kenco’s IT staff could now remotely access their HR kiosks located inside their warehouses. This prevents staff from having to travel to and from sites, which gives them more time to focus on more pressing IT challenges.
